I took my 2006 Tacoma in for a recall service and explained to the service department that I had modifications on my truck because I tow a trailer with it. I had to go to the dealer on several occasions to check and see if the parts for my recall were in yet. Each time, I asked if the recall repair would affect my truck modifications and was told no. Finally after waiting about a month, I was called by the service department and told that the parts were in for my recall. Nothing was said to me about any additional charges when I brought in my truck in and the recall repair was supposed to be at no charge. As they were taking my truck away I asked yet again about how the recall would affect my modifications, and was told that I would be charged an EXTRA fee to reinstall my modifications after the recall repair. Had I not asked when I took my truck in, they would have done the recall and then forced me to pay the repair charge to get my truck back. Needless to say I told them to stop the recall repair, I don't intend to pay any extra fees just because Toyota put out a recall on my truck.
