| - This is hands down the best Mexican food in the Phoenix area.
They make delicious Sonoran style food from scratch with love - and it's authentic and delicious!
Their salsa roja is homemade, served warm, and really delicious paired with guacamole and their freshly made chips (served warm, pass the salt)!
My husband loves the shrimp and crema burrito they often have on special, their chili rellenos, the small bite sized tacos, and their mole (yes they make it). I love their breakfast burritos and often ask for a vegetarian burrito (though vegetarians be warned I have never asked if the rice is made without chicken stock. It's too delicious so I don't want to know!
The owner, her son, her friend who works with her, and the cooks are all lovely people. We have never had a bad experience and they are even patient when I try to practice my limited Spanish when ordering (fun for me, not necessary for ordering)!
You can even buy homemade chicharrones if they haven't sold out yet, and while you are in the neighborhood check out their other (seafood) restaurant in the same plaza and make sure to pick up some roasted chilies at the general store across the street!
By the way - there are other reviews on here which I think are for the same place, but they are listed under 'El Yaqui'.
