  • We lived at Eastridge apartments from 2007 to 2011. The only positive thing I can say about it is that it was relatively cheap. That's the reason we endured the negatives for such a long time. Management style was arrogant and unprofessional. Water was turned off (about every 1-2 months) without advance notification, always in the morning when I needed to get to work. We were once notified on a Friday afternoon that the following Monday morning, our apartment would be sprayed for cockroaches, and that we were to "get it ready pursuant to AZ code etc" under threat of etc. etc. No apology, no "sorry for the short notice", just cold legalese and threats. That's not to say that the spraying wasn't needed- the cockroach problem was absolutely out of control during our last year of residence. In summer of 2010 they repaved the entire parking lot and work started without any advance notice. We were just woken up by unbearable construction noise from right outside of our window at 6am one morning. There had literally not been even a small courtesy notice. I complained to management the same day and was told off in rude sorority girl style. Later that day, a notice appeared telling us that our car would have to be removed a few days later from the parking lot for the duration of several days and be towed at our expense otherwise. What if we had been on vacation for a few weeks like we were during the same period in 2009 and 2011? Our car would have been towed and we would have had to pay a fortune in towing and storage fees. That's why you give at least a full month notice for anything like that. But not at Eastridge. Noise from other residents was a problem and there was no enforcement of noise rules. There was one episode where a neighbor decided to play the sound system at max volume in his truck with the doors wide open in the parking lot for a full hour, from 8 to 9pm so he could listen to it from inside his apartment. I know that several of the staff lived on the premises but there was no action from them. During one year of our residence, college students below us threw regular noisy all-night parties. Management only acted on my complaints after I had called the cops. Cars were regularly parked in the fire lanes for hours, even during office business hours, which made it sometimes difficult to get in and out of your parking spot. No action from management. Random boom cars would frequently drive through the complex at night (like 3am), encouraged by the fact that the complex cuts from Southern to McClintock. Units have super-cheap wood frame construction with no meaningful sound or thermal insulation. When you live in an upstairs unit and the neighbors come up the stairs, the floor shakes. We moved out when our lease had a few weeks left. At move out, I scheduled a day and time for a move-out inspection walk-through on the following week. I had the the appointment in writing. Next week, when I got there at the scheduled time, no one at the office knew of or was prepared for this walk-through. The fact that I had an appointment meant nothing to them and it was suggested that I should come back another day when someone was available. I told them that I was no longer living there and wasn't leaving. 20 minutes later, one of the repair staff found the time. I eventually got a bill for outstanding charges that was fairly reasonable and I payed it promptly. Knowing the habits of Eastridge management, I held on to my receipt because I suspected what was going to happen next. As expected, a few weeks later I got an email saying I hadn't paid and threatening collection. So I had to make another trip to their office to show my proof of payment. Stay really far away from this complex, unless you enjoy being treated like garbage.
