| - Located only a mile or so from Costco and Walmart, I fear that this traditional style grocery store might be ticking away on life support. Though I do respect the full service meat and seafood section (something that Walmart does not offer) and the overall value since when compared to its most similar competitor, Albertsons on Craig/Decatur, the prices and specials are significantly lower. Though WinCo is only a couple blocks away, the fact that WinCo doesn't take credit cards puts them at a significant disadvantage.
This Smiths isn't the most customer friendly and the clientele can be a little trashy at times, but for a traditional full service supermarket, it serves it's need just fine.
In giving it a 3/5 stars, I would like to see it improve its customer experience a bit, have a little more clean organization in its inventory, and on the grand scheme of things, do away with the loyalty card. Albertsons got rid of theirs a while ago and WalMart doesn't play that game. It's just another inconvenience to have to use a card to get value.
Overall, in a pinch and if you're too lazy to go to WalMart or Costco, Smiths at Ann & Decatur will serve your basic grocery needs sufficiently.
