This is a potentially great place that seems to currently be suffering from a bit of an identity crisis.
I heard about BottleHouse from someone who thought it was a homebrew store. I did a little digging and found some articles mentioning that it was a "brew on premises" facility. When I arrived, I discovered it was just a tiny brewery and bar. Still, I'm always looking for new beers to try. I often seek out bars that brew up their own stuff in the back.
My wife and I came on a Saturday afternoon around 3. We walked in and the whole place was empty. I kind of got that "community center" vibe that someone else mentioned, so we grabbed two seats at the bar. We were the only customers for about a half hour, until a small group came in. Aside from the awkwardness of that, it's a cool space.
The beers were exactly the quality I expected - like very good homebrew. This isn't a commercial operation, and if you come in expecting that, I think you'll be sorely disappointed.
I'm giving it 4-stars because I like the concept and appreciate what they've done. I'm also hoping they can figure out what they want their identity to be and start getting more people in the door.
