In my first time at this venue they really fell short in a couple of ways:
1) I saw the bag restrictions and fine, it's their security and I understand that. but I brought my smallest bag which proved an inch too big so I had to walk back across the parking lot (we parked at the exit) in 108-degree heat and transfer my stuff to a ziplock back they provided. And then, I was in line behind a lady with a purse slightly BIGGER than mine and they let her through with no problems. And immediately when we got inside, I saw another one about the same size as mine. Dear Ak Chin: If you're going to have Very Restrictive Security, make sure you apply the same rules to EVERYBODY or you're going to make people Very Pissed Off.
2) Speaking of which, the ladies room was pretty run down. i tried 3 stalls and none had a functioning lock on the door. I stayed in the 3rd one and held the door shut with my foot, then my shoulder as I was . . . getting things back together. But Geez - if you don't want people to consider you as a ghetto option for events, fix your security issues and revamp your toilets! Seriously! No wonder this place has been sold and renamed about 12 times.
The show was great (kudos to the artist, not the venue). The seats are OK. Grass is ridiculous so I won't even go there. The other major issue is that this is Phoenix for God's sake. It's 108 degrees in June and it's amazing anybody shows up for an outdoor concert. We just all really wanted to see Santana!
