| - Thought it would be fun to take our little Emilie for a walk around DC Ranch. I had the day off. Thought we would stroll, window shop and sniff for poop. It's how we bond. When she was finished barking at the large statues of animals I figured it was time to move on. After all this I was hungry for some Flo's of Hong Kong. I kept Emilie in the car, AC on, within ear shot, while I went inside and ordered food. Came back out, threw food in back, turned corner, saw Cold Stone and obviously realized I needed ice cream. Kept car running. AC on. Emilie in car. As I exited Cold Stone with my designer bag of designer ice cream, Emilie spotted me and started jumping up and down and galevanting around the car. CLICK. Oh, shit! She jumped right on the car door lock. Emilie is locked in the car. Car still running. AC on. Me? Horrified! Completetly freaking out. Asking strangers for help. Pleading. Me in my little workout gear, melting designer ice cream, with a Schnauzer locked in my car. NOBODY helped. People actually ignored me. I ran my ass down Market St. to the police station when I saw the fire station right next to it. Police man? Hmmm. Or fire man? FIRE MAN!!!! I pounded on door and Gary (the hunk o burnin love) fireman heard my dilemna and said he'd be right down. I'm outta breath. Frantically saying things like, "Dog." "Schnauzer." "Cute." "Car running." "Locked BMW." "Cold Stone." "Hurry damnit, hurry." As I ran back to be with my imprisoned dog, I heard the rumblings of what I assumed would be an SUV or small fire truck. No siree. In full regallia, it's the gall darn hook and mutha freakin ladder baby. By now a crowd has emerged at said incident and I am SO embarrassed. Five minutes later, the six fireman free my TOTALLY forgiving dog from the still cool car and I thank the Scottsdale Fire Dept. endlessly. Bat my lashes and even, God, I even winked at them. Shameless. Even in crisis I can flirt. I go back to the house, with my luke warm Flo's chinese food, melted Cold Stone ice cream, and the celebrity Schnauzer who survived a dicey trip to DC Ranch.
