  • We usually go here for dim sum and the food and service is good. The dim is a little pricey but that's expected being that it's inside a casino. So tonight we decided to stop by for dinner. We weren't too hungry so we just ordered crab meat with fish maw soup and their "Imperial Peking Duck". Soup: it was ok. Nothing special compared to other soups at restaurants in LA. $20 a bowl. Duck: This was a total rip-off and I'll tell you why. The dish alone is $42 bucks ! That's about $10-$15 dollars over other restaurants in the area. But we accepted the price since we knew Peking duck comes 2 ways and that would sort of make up for the price. The usual crispy skin with bao buns and then minced duck with lettuce wraps is usually how the dish is served. So they bring out the duck and it is the "complete" duck, meat and skin and all. So we asked about the minced meat part with lettuce wraps. They informed us that it would be extra charge. $15 dollars extra to be exact. The waiter kept telling us that they don't do it like LA restaurants. I don't know what he's talking about since restaurants in the area do duck 2 ways when you order Peking duck. I don't care where your at. When you order Peking duck, it is always served 2 ways and not charged EXTRA. The price on the menu is the price you pay! Anyway. We settled with what we had and asked about ordering more bao for our duck. We only wanted a couple more. The waiter first told us that you have to order by 3 or 6. Then he comes back after checking with manager that minimum order is 6. The baos' are $.75 per ! At this point we were totally dumbfounded and furiously frustrated by how badly we just got ripped off and how this restaurant tries to nickel and dime you with their outrageous extra charges. The waiter, sensing our great disappointment, offers us free dessert. It was taro with tapioca and was good, but not enough to dissuade me from writing this poor but deserving review. The food was good and they did try to give us some sort of comfort with the free dessert. For that, I give them 2 stars.
