In general, I tend to avoid patronizing chain restaurants and franchises when a suitable locally owned option exists. But a friend of mine invited my girlfriend and I out to dinner along with his woman, and he had a some coupons for the Elephant Bar, so we decided to give it a shot.
First off, I really dug the atmosphere. It felt like stepping into a Pier 1 Imports catalogue. That whole tropical colonial vibe. Not that I support colonialism.
This was a few months ago, so my memory is a bit spotty. I remember the service being good, and both of us enjoying our dishes. After looking at their menu online, I determined that I had the vegetable stir fry with tofu. Delicious. Portions are large. Members of the non-lumberjack population that do not need to consume 5000 calories a day, would be just fine splitting a plate. Unless you want the leftovers for lunch, then go ahead and get your own platter.
