This was my first time having Hawaiian food. I went by myself a few weeks back on a Saturday after a long day of errands. I met Russell (the owner) by the end of my meal I wanted to call him Uncle.
First I started with a nice helping of boiled peanuts then came the banchan all dishes were nice and cold. I didn't have time to finish all three before Uncle brought three more out. I eat the boiled peanuts slowly because I wanted to take the rest home, not knowing that Uncle had another batch for me to take away. I was able to have a late night snack when I got home.
I don't think that I've ever seen boiled peanuts served other than in Florida (the south). A nice addition.
I had the seafood soup. It came in a big bowl pipping hot with a big ladle and a cup of rice on the side. Uncle gave me instructions on how to put together the dish. It was a little spicy and the shrimp was a tad small but very filling. For under $10 bucks. The veg was crisp and clean. Would order it again. The broth was red so be careful slurping.
I paid my check with a very pretty girl at the desk and was on the way out when Uncle brought a plate of cold sliced watermelon. We chatted about the menu and what I can order next time. Due to the fact that I don't eat meat. He was so warm and accommodating that I'm going to look Uncle up again this weekend.
