  • Ever wonder where all that middle-of-the-road exercise equipment you find on Craigslist comes from? You know, the bench-press or elliptical machine with more dust than use? Purchased with the best of intentions in January and sold in August with a sigh of resignation and a larger pant size? See it new, today, at Dick's Sporting Goods. Kidding aside, I'm a Dick's fan for exercise clothing and some of the gear although they're primarily set up for even less than the weekend warrior. They carry most of the major labels, Nike, Under Armour, Reebok-all at standard pricing and discounted when Phil Knight gives the green light from Oregon. Great selection of running shoes for the weekend warrior but for those a little more serious about their running, I'd check out Sole Sports or Road Runner here in Phoenix. Pricing can be very good or very bad depending on what you're after. Ancillary items such as memory chips for a GoPro could run you three times what it costs on Amazon but nearly everything else is in line. The employees are always very helpful and knowledgeable. Of the big-box sporting goods stores, Dick's is my favorite although not my go-to for everything. Now if you'll excuse me, I need a new weight rack, vintage January 2015- off to Craigslist I go.
