  • I love this studio/work space. They have such great light coming in the front windows, a whole bank of them that run along the front of the building. Easy to get to, adjacent parking lot (my favorite attribute), and Stephanie and her staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. We got to use a letter press machine to stamp a basic design on paper. This was cool, like old time letteringfor newspapers. Next project was to use silk screening to print designs onto that printed piece or just plain paper. All different colors available; I liked the smell of the ink! Green printing here. Safe, non toxic to the environment chemicals only. As our printed projects were drying, we learned about copper plate etching (again non toxic salt type solution used to etch, no nasty, dangerous nitric acid) This would take a lot of skill and patience, not a project for me! A beautifully detailed print was produced. In the work shop building is a gallery where various print art exhibits are run throughout the year. Open to the public and free. Go get your art on! They have a cute little gift shop as well with various items including printed art for sale. Need more? You can rent workshop space/time or become a member of Zygote Press. Not for profit, they run classes and, of course, accept donations if you would like to support the arts in Cleveland.
