| - the food is decent--not memorable or special, but acceptable.
The service, however, is appalling. It's been a while since I've had such bad service. The staff who greeted us were pretty surly, as if they resented our coming into the restaurant--which should have been a signal to leave. That, and the fact that there were fewer patrons there than at any other restaurant on Main Street.
A couple of menus were slammed down on the table in front of us. Our order was pretty simple--two pad thai, one without chives--but the kitchen still managed to get it wrong. I had to ask three times for water, and no one came to check on us until long after we were done. And throughout all of it, the staff was just pissy and ill-tempered.
As we left, my lunch partner commented on how empty the place was. I said, "Yeah, it's not surprising, given how terrible the service is" just as the waitress walked by.
She made a point of smiling and saying brightly, "Thanks for coming in!" But it was too little too late.
You have to wonder how places like Nunthaporn's stay in business. I admit I'm still fairly new to Mesa, but there has to be better Thai food somewhere in town. If you really want good food on Main Street, try Mango's Mexican restaurant just down the street.
