  • Barstaurant eh? Yes there is a bar on the right when you walk in but I came here for the food. Came on a cold winter night to get some piping hot Korean stew. The place was poppin' with the EDM music blasting, which I must say was a bit distracting to the general ambiance. The menu has a ton of stews and bbq dishes. For two of us, we ended up getting the gamjatang (pork bone and potato stew) and a squid and garlic in soy sauce tapa. The tapa came out first and it was pretty delish. Squid was chopped into small pieces and the garlic was cooked until they were super sweet. The soy sauce wasn't too salty and it was a good, simple little appetizer that came in aluminum foil wrap. Pretty interesting to have it just in foil. As for the gamjatang, the pot was put on the portable gas burners so it was kept hot the whole time. The stew was filled with pork bone and potatoes. A bit skimpy on the veges so we actually asked for another side order of vegetables ($2.50), which we thought was super worth it cuz it was pretty much another pot of soup and veges. Meat wasn't extremely tender and fall off the bone. Needed some work to get it off and the potatoes took a bit long to get cooked. The flavor of the soup wasn't as strong as I would like as well. No matter how long you left it to cook, it tasted about the same. I would look maybe at the boodaejigae instead of the gamjatang because it seemed like that would have more flavor. Overall though, the service and the ambiance made up for the food. Service was very responsive and on point. They were all super friendly. As for the ambiance, other than the blasting music, the place was decorated very "Korean-y" in my opinion. A few knick knacks around the place with cute booths. A chalkboard wall that advertises their soju flavors. They also have outside seating. Not used in the winter for obvious reasons (BRRR!!!) Would definitely come back. Boodaejigae next time though.
