  • STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMMUNITY! The community and apartments are nice but a bit overpriced, my rent with pest control and water bill came to $1045 for a one bedroom. However with the apartment facing and being near the lake I had problems with roaches or waterbugs as people who aren't from the South call them. Whatever you nickname them they are still a nuisance. Now with that said, let me explain why I gave the complex one star. My lease ended November 16, 2016, I gave the proper 60 day notice and paid my prorated rent for November $634.20 on time. I cleaned out the apartment (and made a video of its condition) and turned in the keys and gate fob, the leasing staff said because it was after 5pm there was no one available to do the move out inspection. I said no problem and per the request of the leasing staff wrote a note requesting to be present at the move out inspection and included my contact info. The leasing agent informed me that they were behind and that they had 9 days to do inspection. December 2, I followed up with the property since I had not heard anything and spoke with the property manager, Windy V. who informed me the inspection had been completed by her regional manager, "the apartment had already been punched out" and she would forward me the final invoice via email. A couple of unsuccessful attempts were made by her as she was unable to attach the invoice in her email. I told her I would be in the area and would come by to pick up the hard copy. I arrived to the complex the same day and it showed the complex took my $400 deposit plus an additional $29 stating it was for rent. I asked how this was possible since I paid my rent for November, Windy stated she did not know and stated the other charges were probably for a water bill because they bill two months behind and stated there were no damages to the apartment. I questioned that as well because rental payments are not accepted without the payment of the monthly water bill. Windy stated she did not know and seemed confused. She said she would submit the invoice on Monday (Dec 5) to have the charges reversed so that I would receive my security deposit. On December 5 I sent a follow up email for an update and received no reply. On December 9 Windy replied and stated the charges were reversed and would be reprocessed on December 12. On December 14, I inquired whether or not my check had been mailed -no response. To date I have not received a check nor response from this company in addition to sending a complaint to the Better Business Bureau and sent a letter to the property management company, JRK Management. The date has since passed for the company to respond. Needless to say, this is not over nor is this the way a company should conduct business. If I owed them rent they would not hesitate to file with the courts and add other fees to pursue me for payment by any means necessary. If we have to go to court for me to recoup my money then that is exactly where I plan to see them, they should also be charged with theft.
