While goofing around the house one evening,as I did some work, my pup suddenly winced and went all quite. On turning around I found him laying on the floor, not making any movement. My attempts to touch his right front paw were met with yelps and efforts to get him to weight bear on it were all in vain.
Worried that he may have broken the leg, (jumper that he is), I found VCA Met West to be the closest animal hospital which was thankfully open at 6:30 pm and rushed him there.
Located close to Settler's Ridge shopping area, the hospital appeared to be busy despite the late hour. The staff was efficient as well as friendly and were quick to triage us as soon as me made it through the front door. After an excruciatingly long wait(due to an emergency case) we were finally put into a patient room. The vet we met with was extremely polite & apologetic for the delay in care. She took time in explaining all the possible reasons my pooch was having difficulty weight bearing ranging from a sprain to Lyme disease. My only criticism would be that I wished she would have given me her honest opinion rather than a differential with all the possibilities & make me decide if I wanted tests for the same( how would I know!). In the end we did do all the potential tests which panned out negative. What a waste of resources & money!
Overall: the pros of the place are it's friendly staff & hours of operations. On the downside I wish the vet would have been more decisive & sure of herself. Not a bad option when emergency strikes!
