  • I hate working out. I hate gyms. I usually hate the people at gyms. But as of recently, I decided to actually utilize this membership I've been paying for (for like 3yrs) and take my boyfriend along to show me how to work the equipment. And thanks to his expertise, I now actually kind of like the gym. Fitworks downtown has some downfalls and parking is probably the worst of them all. Unless you want to pay extra monthly, you get to drive around Euclid Avenue ready to stab someone for a space big enough to fit your car somewhere not labeled a "valet" or "tow-away" zone. Frustrating is putting it lightly. I mean, doesn't it take enough out of you just to get up and force yourself to get to the gym? Why would you want to spend 20 minutes looking for a place to park? Second downfall works almost as a positive. This Fitworks is a a lot smaller, more compact than other locations. So, although you may be limited in some ways (i.e. child care, sauna, separate women's weight area, etc.), so they still have pretty much all the weight equipment you'd need to get in a great workout. What makes this a positive is that this gym is a lot less packed with douchy muscle heads clogging up the space and looking at you like you don't know what you're doing. Now that's what I call #winning. Plus, hell... Fitworks is cheap, has lots of locations and I have an unlimited guest pass. I'll take that over a gym that's over-priced and doubles as "night club" any day. Additional plus, you don't see nearly as many girls here dressed up like they're going out instead of working out. Yay! Now excuse my while I struggle to lift 25lbs.
