| - I have type 2 diabetes and no thyroid. I have been on medication for thyroid since 1969 and diabetes since 2013. I went to this place because my doctor isn't able to control my diabetes so I thought a specialist would help, OMG, I wish I would have read the reviews and saved myself a $40 copay. From the beginning to the end went from bad to worse.
1. Extremely high wait time (my time is valuable too). I waited almost an hour.
2. Rude workers behind the desk, I never got one thank you or smile from either one of the two that were back there.
3. Took my blood pressure and I had to ask what it was.
4. Got into a room and the wait started all over, it was over 45 minutes before anyone came in.
5. Finally the doctor and some med student (with a lap top on wheels) so the doctor said he was a med student but he never came near me, just kept typing on the computer, came in. The doctor did shake my hand. I told him about my weight gain, my out of control sugars, the fact that I didn't feel good, and nothing. I gave him history on my thyroid and it was as if he really wasn't listening to me. Told me he wanted some labs, was going to try me on a new medication for type 2 diabetes. Gave me a paper and that was that. His medical tech came in handed me a bottle of medicine and when looking at it, I said, that is the wrong dose the doctor told me something different. She said, "well, break it in half." I told her that being a NURSE, I was almost 100% sure this medication could not be broke in half, she grabbed the bottle from me and I could tell she was really irritated with me and huffed off. She came back and said, "you were right it can't be broke in half and we are out of the strength you need, he will phone a script in for you."
6. I went out to the front desk and was told I had to "schedule my labs", with my schedule and the fact that my sister was having surgery, I told her I couldn't just schedule, that I could pop in when I had the time and she told me I could not do that, she also said something about an ultrasound which I found odd because the doctor never mentioned an ultrasound. Shouldn't he have told me he wanted one?
7. Later that night I went to pharmacy to pick up prescription, OMG, I was told my insurance (and I have great insurance) would not cover any medication over $1,500. What was he giving me-GOLD???? I could not believe it. Anyway, I called the next day, had to leave a message was told I would get a call back which I did the next day. She told me she would let the doctor know. I got a call from pharmacy that med was filled, I went to get it and it was metformin, that I have about 15 bottle of at home and the doctor knew this. I refused to pick it up and called the next day and left yet another voice message. I got a call back from med tech (she is not very nice), very smart with me on the telephone. First of all I am older and don't appreciated some young snippet copping an attitude with me.
8. After much back and forth, I finally got the first med approved and only got 24 pills for the month, what do I do for 6-7 days the rest of the month? I am sure there is other pills that work just as well and cheaper. I do believe they are in cahoots with the drug company. Why would you prescribe an expensive medication like that?
9. I was surprised that the doctor called me and left a message to call him, which I did and all I got was med techs message to leave a message. I am not playing phone tag with anyone.
10. I feel like I as a paying consumer is paying his wage and that I should be getting excellent customer service from the time I walk into the door until I walk out that door. I never saw any of that at this office. I for one will not go back. When I have to spend $40 out of pocket which I know some people will say that is not a lot of money, but when you are sole support of your family, it is a lot of money and when I have to spend that, I expect nothing less than great service, something that makes me want to come back. I will not be back.
11. I asked for a female doctor, got a male doctor. I do not trust the med tech after the mistake with medication she made, what if I were elderly (older than what I am), not understanding medications and I broke that pill in half because she said to? She is not a nurse and should NOT be DISPENSING medication to ANYONE. I guess it is cheaper to hire med techs then nurses, so I guess you get what you pay for.
12. Overall, not impressed.
