I've had my hair cut at Toni & Guy Academy in Costa Mesa for years... Then I moved to Vegas and found Aveda. It's definitely a hit or miss with schools, sometimes you'll get a less experienced student and other times you might get a soon to be graduating senior. Sometimes the instructors are horrible and other times they are great.
I tried making an appointment online but no one contacted me. I finally called two days later and made an appointment for 2:30. The instructor was joking around with the student that I had but I didn't have to wait long. I showed the student, Mercedes, what kind of style I wanted and she got it checked off by her instructor, Philip. Luckily for me, the instructor was good and Mercedes is graduating in one month.
I liked how she asked me what my main concern was about with my hair (I said it was very dry) and she used a hair mask on me. She didn't give me a massage, which was a bummer but I was in a hurry to get out of there anyway. The hair cut took about an hour and 15 minutes and I love it. Another instructor came by to check my hair before I left. Mercedes took her time, and was very careful... If she didn't know something, she would ask her instructor for clarification.
After my Yelp discount, the total came out to be $15.20 for my haircut. Really great deal. I'm just sad that Mercedes will be leaving next month.
