i am a 'dentaphobe' - since I was small. so it is very hard for me to even make an appointment and really go. I do have to say the staff and hygenist and dentist were all very nice to me. My problem is with the insane prices. I went on my insurance website before hand and they have a tool to estimate your dental costs. Needing extractions and a full set of dentures (my idea - agreed to by dentist considering the condition of my teeth and history) I was absolutely gobsmacked to sit in the patient managers office and have her show me an initial price of $28,000!!!!!!!!!!! (four implants to hold dentures) Next step down, $24,000!! (two implants and dentures) That is half a year's salary!
My insurance estimator said I would be looking at around $4000, $2000 after insurance.
I had to leave I was so upset.
Today the used car salesman - I mean patient manager, called and asked why I didn't come back. I told her prices were crazy and I wanted to look at just top dentures and extractions. I get an email with that information and it was $$12,000. These people are crazy and I think unethical to charge this much. Who can afford it? who wants to finance 28,000 - that was a suggestion. I work hard and still live paycheck to paycheck as many do. No way to afford that nonsense. I guess I will just be toothless in Phoenix.
