| - In summary: A neat experience. I like interesting, thrilling activities so when I found out this was opening in time for my Toronto trip I booked it immediately. The booking process was smooth however it is very unforgiving in terms of once you book the names cannot be changed and you pay up front - so you have to be sure.
When we arrived it was a little disorganized but we made it to the "staging area" as I call it. Basically they play you a safety video and do a breathalyzer test (to ensure you aren't under the influence of alcohol). It is at this point that they let us know that you are NOT allowed any accessories including bobbypins, any hairclips, earings, necklaces, bracelets, anklets etc. I found this annoying as I have short, side-sweeping bangs that need a bobbypin or hair clip to hold back. Had I been made aware of this prior to arriving, I could have braided them back and had an elastic to do so but I was not prepared. So they tell you this after it is too late to be prepared and don't give you any time to fix it (I was still trying to braid when then shuffled us along). Next is gearing up in bright red jumpsuits and yellow harnesses. After everyone was ready, we met our guide and were taken up the CN Tower in an elevator.
Once at the top we met another staff member who helped link us to the contraption keeping us safe - one rope attached to the front and a second one to our back. The carabineers were double locked closed and were zip tied shut (presumably for safety however it made me think of someone who may want to jump and I just don't think that could ever happen). Then we were off.
Out on the platform was a bit of a disappointment. It was probably 1.5 meters wide - I could have lied down and rolled around and still felt safe. If you are looking for a thrill I don't think you will find it here. We were allowed to walk along the edge of the platform and lean out both forward and backwards. I think we were on the edge for about half an hour and the best part was the sights. It was a clear day and we could see a lot. That is the part I enjoyed the most, especially with it being my first time in Toronto. At the end you do get a group photo, certificate and the DVD of the experience.
Overall I am happy that I did this - I found it on the expensive side for the value and not thrilling but a neat experience.
