rev:text	I used to go to this restaurant quite often several years ago when I lived here in Charlotte. The service was always great, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere and music were very enjoyable. Needless to say, my expectation level was high. The complimentary valet is a plus as it used to be a nightmare to park there. The hostesses weren't very friendly nor was the front of the house manager when we walked in. We were taken to our tiny table shoved up against the wall. Our two top was VERY close to a 5 top with barely any room to move. Our waiter came over pointed to the restaurant week menu and walked off. I should have foreseen then how the evening was going to go. The waiter finally came back and abruptly took our drink order. He brings my wine and walks away without saying a word and then comes back 5 minutes later with my husband's wine. We ordered the exact same thing so why it took so long for the other glass is beyond me. The waiter comes over and rudely asks what do you want! I ordered the Caesar salad which was straight out of a bag with dried out lettuce and croutons hard enough to break a tooth. My husband got the gumbo and thought it was good. I ordered the etouffee with shrimp and crayfish as my entree and my husband ordered the shrimp and grits. The sauce was tasty and not to spicy. There were probably 5 tiny overcooked shrimp pieces , 10 tiny crayfish pieces, and a plate full of rice. The rice overpowered the entire dish. The shrimp and grits had very well done shrimp and bland grits. A guy came over and removed my wine glass without asking if I was finished or if I would like another glass. Our waiter never once checked on us while we were eating to see if we needed anything or how our dinner was. After someone else clears our plates without asking, our waiter comes over and says he guesses we are ready for dessert so what did we want. He brought the desserts out and let's say they didn't look very appetizing. The bread pudding did not look appealing but it tasted ok. The key lime pie crust was greasy and awful tasting. The filling itself was ok but didn't have much of a key lime taste to it. The waiter brings over our check and lays it on my husband's napkin and walks off. We hadn't asked for the check yet and he surely didn't ask if we wanted anything else before he dropped it off. We are excellent tippers as I used to wait tables myself and my husband worked in the restaurant industry. Our waiter did not deserve a tip of any kind other than to find another industry to work in as food service is not for him. We felt rushed the entire time and we were in and out of the restaurant in less than an hour. The area we sat in had 6 tables total and all but 1 of those tables was still occupied with people that were not eating or drinking when we left. They had already finished their dinner and drinks and a couple tables even had their to go boxes on the table. We were looking for a nice, relaxed dinner and that certainly didn't happen. We don't plan on returning that is for sure. We received better service from the valet attendant than we did in the restaurant itself. The guy ran over and got our car right away because he said he didn't want me to stand out in the cold for to long. He was very kind and considerate and was well tipped. There are so many great restaurants in Charlotte but unfortunately this is no longer one of them!
