| - Not sure how and why I haven't reviewed this but here goes.
I have two siblings (8 & 10) which is how I ended up taking a visit on over to this place. Honestly, when they go here, they seem bored and I fail to see how this place has consistently high ratings. Too many people are too generous with these reviews that start, "For Vegas, this museum is a..." ugh. For a natural history museum, this museum is a 2.5 star.
There is a section of taxidermied animals that is quite old and a little dusty. Not an exhibit you would make the trek out here for.
There is a replica tomb and old village which is sort of neat, but nothing that you won't zoom through in 15 minutes or so, and that's if you read every placard (which you should be doing!)
Animatronic extinct animal exhibit is okay. For kids in the under 8 crowd, it might hold their attention, but older than that, they'll be pretty bored.
One cool thing is that there are many animals and bugs to touch, such as a giant snake and a tarantula (I was trying to mask the scent of fear that I know that tarantula could pick up on as I touched it.)
My little brother prefers to check out the sea creature room with all of the various fish tanks. I don't know about you, but sting ray tanks make me uneasy. Lest we all forget how Steve Irwin died, let's remember that of all the sea creatures that you can pet in a shallow tank, sting rays don't play. Don't trust them; they're shifty and murderous creatures.
Overall, this museum might be okay for very small kids that are still in strollers who don't need too much stimulation, but in general, it is not a must-see museum.
