  • As an infrequent visitor to Phoenix and a lover of thrift stores, I was excited to find this cute store full of gently-used name brand apparel. Plus the air conditioning was great on these hot days that I'm clearly not accustomed to. Poor Little Rich Girl has an appealing, high-quality selection of dresses, shirts, jeans, shorts, skirts, and shoes. I saw items from Free People, Banana Republic, and Lucky, among other brands. The shirts are arranged by size and then color. I found this helpful, because sometimes you just want to look at colors that look good on you or that you don't have a fair amount of in your wardrobe already. Also as a heads-up, there aren't any guys clothes here. I guess the "girl" part of the shop title should give that away. The employees were very friendly and helpful. As I browsed and found items I wanted to try on, a lady took them and placed them in a dressing room. The dressing rooms are in the back with colorful cloth screens. I wish the cloth had been a little wider, but it was sufficient enough for the brief time I spent trying on clothes. When I came in, they had a sale going on. I don't know how long it'll be in effect, but it was for a certain percentage off of items that had been on the shelf for X amount of days. They also had $1 items that had a star hole punch in the tag. You had to go searching for those items though, because they were right on the shelves with the regular priced stuff. There are also little collections of fun jewelry and soap and baby items on various displays around the store. I ended up with a comfy, navy, three-quarter sleeve pullover for $23 that will be perfect once the weather cools down a bit. Most of the items I saw were in the $15-$30 price range. It's not too bad for the brand name you're getting, but look for holes/stains before you buy. I saw a shirt that had some stains on it, but most of the tags plainly said if something was scratched or there was a hole. Apparently you can also sell your gently used clothing here too. They don't take items from places like Target, Forever 21, Nordstrom, or Macy's, I heard the lady say. All in all, I'd come here again when I feel the need for a "nicer" item than I could get at Target. It costs more than the average thrift store, but you're getting special apparel. Plus, the pieces are so unique! It's definitely worth checking out!
