  • Holy wow, HIPSTER CENTRAL! With that out of the way, hubby and I had brunch here last weekend. It was super crowded and INCREDIBLY noisy inside. There are no soft surfaces anywhere inside (hard floors, hard walls, no carpeting or rugs anywhere) so the sound just bounces and echoes and the volume goes up and UP. And it's fairly small and cramped inside so that doesn't help. There were a number of babies and young children and the noise was almost unbearable for me - but we stuck it out to try the food. Anyway, after about a 15 minute wait (which isn't bad at brunch-time on a Saturday), we were taken back to our table. It's a very nice place with ultra-hip(ster) decor - I was in sweats and a t-shirt so I felt a little under-dressed. But the other patrons were mostly casual too so whatever. I ordered the french toast and my hubby got the chocolate chip pancakes. I was worried the wait for the food would be crazy since it was so crowded but the wait was normal and fine. And the food looked gorgeous when it was served! Of course, it also tasted fantastic. Definitely my new favorite French Toast meal. It comes with fresh bananas and strawberries and they were perfection. The toast is made from Challah bread and it was so good, I'm getting hungry thinking about it. I could have died happy. Only minor complaint is that, on its own, the dish doesn't come with anything savory. So after a few minutes, all that sweetness can be a bit much. I should have tried to order a side of bacon or an egg or something. I really prefer breakfasts that are sweet and savory, like french toast with scrambled eggs. I didn't try to order it so I dunno if they would do that but I would assume so. Then it would have been perfect. My husband had the same complaint with his chocolate chip pancakes. They were good but it ended up being just too much sweetness. Next time we'll try ordering with a couple of sides of bacon and eggs! Overall, we enjoyed it and loved the food. I was tired and really wanting to relax so I was a bit bummed by the high noise level - but again, I guess that's to be expected at that busy hour. We will definitely be coming back for the French Toast again soon, but I think my very-favorite Vegas brunch place may remain Hash House A GoGo for now (less hipster decor and vibe, more space to breathe and more menu options) :)
