  • I was having lunch in the area and came across this new bubble tea place. Palgong is a Taiwanese chain well known for their milk tea that recently opened on the Yonge Street corridor already saturated by bubble tea shops of every kind. So what's different about Palgong? They specialize in teas made through varying degrees of fermentation including original black tea, jasmine tea, earl grey tea, and oolong tea. In addition to the usual tapioca, they also have a selection of foam toppings ($0.80-$1.50) including milk foam, cream cheese foam, and chocolate foam. They even have Americanos and other coffee beverages that can be topped with milk foam. I ordered the original milk tea with chocolate foam and tapioca, 25% sweet with less ice. The milk tea was creamy, rich in black tea flavour. I enjoyed the chocolate creaminess that the chocolate foam added. The tapioca had the right amount of sweetness and chewiness to it. The cafe itself is a decent size, with seating for about 25 people. They have a number of cute throw pillows for those seated on the bench seating areas. The staff were helpful in providing advice regarding the drink options. If you're not a milk foam person (I'm normally not but can't say no to chocolate foam!), Palgong has lots of regular bubble tea flavour options like taro, original, coffee milk tea, earl grey, and maple honey milk tea. Interesting that the original, jasmine, earl grey, and oolong milk teas are $2.99 (for their "large" size but there isn't a smaller size!), but taro, mango, coffee, and chocolate milk teas are 50 cents more! I'd likely come back to try their earl grey milk tea, Americano with chocolate foam, or a repeat of the original milk tea with chocolate foam.
