| - Under the old store name, I spent thousands of dollars: a complete stereo system, equipment tune-up / repairs, and vinyl. It was expensive, but local. Service was always friendly, and the guy who does the repair work was excellent. At that time, they offered a punch-card that gifted a free record after 10 purchases. A nice perk. I went into the store to redeem my card, only to find out that the store had recently changes names, and would not be accepting loyalty cards from the "old" store; same staff, same inventory...shoot, even the same phone number. I can understand their situation, but disappointing nonetheless.
Recently I called the north location to inquire about the cost to have a dozen tubes tested. The fellow who answered the phone couldn't tell me the price...he was friendly, but couldn't offer a firm answer. I then called their south location. The lady who I spoke with recommended that I call the north location. When I explained to her that I already had, she became, oddly, confrontational. It was a strange experience and certainly not good customer service.
With all of the great on-line options available, these guys are making it hard to support your local brick-and-mortar record shop...
