I was not a fan of this range initially. I had some bad experiences the first couple of times with rude staff members, but I have also met some very friendly and helpful staff.
The range is okay. It goes to 25 yards, and they have a good selection of guns for rental. You have to buy eye and ear protection since they don't do rentals for those. Based on these factors, I would give them three stars, but their class options bump them up to a four.
I took the concealed carry course after buying my first firearm here. The instructor, a retired police sergeant with 30 years of service, was very knowledgable. The class itself was a brutal 16 hours over a weekend due to Illinois laws, but the instructor made this time as enjoyable as it could be. Even with the minimal practice time, I noticed a significant improvement in my marksmanship. You also get two hours of free range time upon completion of the class. High Caliber offers various other educational opportunities, including four levels of pistol classes which end with practice in their simulation room.
