It's funny how the price you pay can affect your expectations. Got a good Express Deal on Priceline so was happy with what I got. If I paid full price, perhaps I would be less pleased.
Positives included attentive staff from the valet to the front desk. The valet saw we had two bikes on a rack on our car and offered to park the car near the valet stand to keep the bikes safe.
The room we had (1028) was spacious and clean. There is actually a wall in between the sleeping area and the bathroom area, which is nice in a shared room. For my wife, the nicest touch was the complimentary ear plugs she found in the nightstand drawer. I've never seen that in a hotel before.
The wi-fi is not free in general, but if you join the Omni loyalty program you can get free wi-fi. We didn't use it, but guests have access to the Charlotte Athletic Club which accessible from the lobby.
Location is very central to most downtown locations. We had a beautiful view of the art deco B of A building from our window and no trouble with noise from the Epicenter because we were there on a Tuesday night.
On the down side, the pillows were awful and the hotel is showing its age and a bit rough around the edges. Seams in wallpaper showing in places, toilet paper holder loose, and the carpet in the hallway on the 10th floor was bunching up so much I could have easily tripped on it. Those things were easy enough to ignore for $99, but for $189 I would not be as happy as I was.
