| - Never again; I completely agree with the other reviewer who said this place displays an astonishing level of incompetence. The noise I took the car in to have repaired was NOT fixed, nor did the idiot light that was signaling the problem stay off. I took the car to another shop to have it checked, and Washington Blvd. Automotive had replaced a hose with the wrong size and not secured it properly, so it was basically flapping loose in the wind.
I had also told the owner well ahead of time that I needed a new battery for my key, and that I needed two new tires. Did they have either of them when I took the car in for the appointment? Heck, no.
What kind of car repair shop doesn't have batteries for keys in stock? And can't get one ahead of time when *told* it was needed?
These were stupidly simple repairs, as it turned out, thankfully, and these people still couldn't get them right.
I also had new brakes installed, and they aren't feeling right. I haven't driven the car for a while since I bought a new one, but I'm going to take it to the other shop to have them rechecked before I give the car to my niece. There's no excuse for this.
And yes, the car was dirty and greasy when they gave it back to me, although not as bad as the other reviewer's situation. I still had to have the steering wheel cleaned.
I really should have known better. When I first called for this appointment, a girl answered the phone in a really sing-songy voice that was impossible to understand, sounding stoned, telling me a couple of different stories about how the shop had been sold to her (or someone; she said different things), and just sounding very strange. I decided not to make the appointment until Chad, who was the previous owner, called me back and told me he'd been keeping an eye on them during the transition, that they were doing some good work and asked me to give them a chance. Very bad move, as it turned out.
This *used* to be Simply Saab, which was terrific, but there is no way I will ever go back here again. Fink's Automotive in Aspinwall is my new shop. They know Saabs, came well-recommended, have clearly been in business forever, and look like they'll still be there for a while.
Edited after owner's comment to add: I didn't want to go back to a place that had made errors like these. If they can't get simple things like the correct size hose in a relatively innocuous place right, or get basic parts in like a battery for my key that I specifically requested ahead of time, when plenty of time was allowed before actually taking the car in (with an appointment, not just "drop[ping] it off"), it raises questions about what kind of work they do otherwise.
The problem I took the car in for did not get fixed, so I got a second opinion - from the place I had to go to anyways to get the battery for my key because I couldn't wait for it any longer!
Dyesha is sweet and I wish her well, but there were just too many things out of place. I'll reconsider if/when good reviews start coming in. They do look pretty busy most of the time when I drive by there, so it's certainly not impossible that my experience may not be typical.
