When I saw that White Castle got only 2.5 stars I was like naawww that can't be, but guess what; it's truly what it deserves.
Being from New Jersey, I pretty much grew up eating White Castle. Ever since I moved here in 2005 I always complained that there was no White Castle and that the frozen ones don't taste the same. But holy shit, I would actually prefer the frozen one's over these "fresh" ones. I was just insanely disappointed.
My husband has never had White Castle in his life and he really wanted to go randomly at 3AM. It's inside the Best Western casino/hotel which is just a really random place to have it in the first place. I actually didn't wanna try White Castle in Vegas because I already had a feeling that it wasn't going to live up to it's name here like it does on the East Coast and I was so right.
We ordered 4 cheese sliders to share with fries & a drink. Order came quickly and of course hubby couldn't wait to try it. The sliders were warm and the cheese was barely melted which means it was most likely just sitting out for a while. I let that go cuz I haven't had "fresh" White Castle in forever and I was just hungry as fuck. All was good until hubby bit into his second slider then started making this weird ass noise and faces at me until I looked at his burger and saw a freaking curly ass strand of hair in his slider. FUCK THAT. Instantly, my stomach just churned and I just felt like I had a stomach ache. I'm sure that if I hadn't seen that piece of hair I would've been fine, but that just ruined White Castle for me (at least in Vegas). He brought it to the cashier, hair still intact and shit and they gave him 2 double cheese sliders. Nice of the cashier but it still didn't make up for how shitty we felt after eating there. What's sad too is that I overheard other people saying how much this place sucks :/
So I came to the conclusion that I'm never going to waste a drive to the Strip again and if I want White Castle I will just go to Smith's and get the frozen ones. Seriously, you're probably better off not driving down there and dealing with all the tourist and drunk people.
It's cool that Vegas is trying to expand on all of the popular foods from other states but I seriously think White Castle belongs only on the East Coast. I still love White Castle though but just not this location. Maybe they should consider making a location away from Strip!
