  • The tubing experience was very fun! The water was rather slow today so the bus dropped us off at stop 2 and we floated back down to 4. We pulled over twice to eat and stretch our legs quickly and the entire trip took us 4 hours. Today wasn't very busy at all. There were other people there but we didn't bump into people very often. We read to bring sheets or towels to cover our tubes and we did do that. We didn't have one for our cooler tube and that tube was super hot to touch! The cooler was obviously ok. So definitely do not forget to bring something to cover your tube! I also recommend bringing a shirt with u and not going in just your bathing suit. This is just in case you start getting too much sun and need to cover up a bit so you don't get super burnt. I kept my shirt tied to my cooler and when I needed it, I put it on. Or, you can just keep reapplying sunscreen, but when your in the water most of it just runs into the water. The shoreline is pretty and has trees, bushes, cactus, other plants, and different rock formations. There is a cliff at part of the run that has sparrow nests on it. We even saw an open bees nest tucked into a ledge with honeycomb way up on the cliff. At another section of the river, I saw a bunch of wild horses!, including a baby one!, down by the water so this alone was worth the experience. My only complaint is that there is unfortunately so much trash in the river up on the sides. I personally tried to pick whatever trash floated by me. I don't know if salt river tubing does anything to help with this trash besides providing trash bags at the beginning and trash cans at the end, but I think it would be nice if maybe they could contribute someone in a canoe (so it's faster) to help clean up some trash every few hours. Also, your kids have to be at least 8 years old and at least 4 feet tall to go tubing, but do know that people are drinking and playing adult music (I am guilty of this), so if that is not something you want your kids around try picking a day that is less busy so there is less of that or less chances of bumping into people doing that. If you haven't floated the salt river, I definitely recommend doing it! It's a nice way to cool off and beat the heat, while enjoy some nature.
