Visited this little coffee cafe a while back with some of my friends on a mini food adventure. We just finished a fairly large lunch and needed a recharge. A friend of mine recommended this little shop that seemed soo far away as it was cold that day. L'Opea is located in North York along Yonge Street with its major intersection being Yonge and McKee. L'Opera has a cozy interior that designed with a modest but inviting matter. It doesn't scream look at me, look how unique or cliché I am. It is comforting and a good place to simply relax. I would consider it a place that I would stop by outside of the typical commercial choices as it has more of a local feel to it. The owner was extremely nice and helped me decide on what I should chose and the available specialities. I went with cafe mocha and Angela has decided to go with a hot chocolate. L'Opera also has a fairly good number of dessert pickings of small cakes and random sweets. A caramel chocolate cake caught her eye and she just had to grab it. =). The owner served our drinks to our table and with each cup put a little design on top. So they do have that little special touch to it. The cafe mocha was just right and hit the spot. Angela definitely enjoyed both the hot chocolate as it wasn't too overly sweet or chocolately and caramel chocolate cake was exactly what she needed on this recharge stop. Overall, I liked L'opera. I liked how it was a small and cozy cafe. That I can bring a friend or if I just need some time away to study or read a book, I can. The owner is very nice so I'm sure after a few visits he'll get to know your name. And that's what L'Opera is about, it's unassuming and knows what it's about. A place with good dessert and coffee together is always a treat in my books.
