| - Completely unprofessional! And just in case you don't believe me, here is my entire experience:
I went in to get my prescription back in December of 2014. I live in the university area and just happened to be in the Matthews area that day. I noticed their sign in the shopping center I was in and decided to see if they took my insurance(I only had a pair or two of contacts left from my last prescription) and get a new contact prescription. I walk in and ask if I can be seen today and the reception said yes with no hesitation. Little did I know there was going to be a 2+ hour wait! I wasn't even told this until I had already been waiting an hour and a half. Even though I live so far, I had already filled out all of the necessary paperwork so that I thought "what the heck" and made an appointment to come back the next morning. After waiting 30+ minutes to be seen for my appointment, I was finally sent to the eye exam room...where I waited another 10 minutes to be seen by the doctor. When I finally did see her, Dr. Zawilinski was very nice and up-beat. My exam was fairly quick. During the exam I told her, what was already noted on my paperwork by the receptionist, that I normally wear Acuve2 contacts. I was honest that sometimes I wear my two week lenses longer, sometimes a month. When it was time for me to try on contacts she suggested a pair of contacts that I could wear a month at a time. I told her they felt different and she explained that these lenses were larger and covered more of my eye than Acuve2. Her exact words were "try these our for the next 30 days and see if you like them." OK.
Flash forward to less than two months later where I used the contacts she gave me and my last two pairs of my Acuve2 contacts. I decided I prefer my Acuve2 lenses better. I place an order on VisionDirect.com, send my prescription in and wait. I receive an email that my doctor DENIED my prescription and gave a specific kind of contact on my prescription. A kind of contact that is THREE TIMES more expensive than my normally contacts. Needless to say, I was not happy. I called the office today only for her to tell receptionist to tell me that "it's too late to alter your prescription" and "if you would like to come back and be fitted for Acuve2 lenses, you would have to pay a fee from $28-48". I'm sorry, what?? The receptionist then explained that after 30 days a prescription is finalized that that I would've had to come back within that time frame to try on a different pair. I told her that this was never explained to me and she said I should've received a follow up phone call within a week of my appointment which was never made! Trust me, if any of this was told to me I would have came back within that same week for different lenses, I did not like the ones she gave me.
I continued to explain to Brittany, the receptionist, that this wasn't fair. Why would the doctor give me a prescription for lenses that are three times more than what a pay and not explain that to me? She said she was sorry and that she was only relaying the message. I told her to let the doctor know that since I have to pay extra money anyways, I am going to explore my options. I apologized if I was rude to her and asked to relay my message, that the doctor is EXTREMELY unprofessional. This is not how to run a business ESPECIALLY if you are wanting to keep customers. I will not be going back and I will tell anyone who will hear it about my experience. Including the Better Business Bureau. Side note, Brittany was very professional and nice.
