Towing companies get a bad rap. This one is no different (obviously, based on their 1.5 star rating. No doubt that's because most people that want to give 0 stars HAVE to give 1). I too am only giving them 1 because I HAVE to.
Our second car wouldn't start today and after trying to jump it we figure maybe it's the starter. I contact my insurance company (at 3:58PM) since I have roadside assistance and they immediately got this company on the way with an estimated ETA of 5:33PM. As soon as I hung up with my insurance I received a text message with this companies name, number and the ETA again.
I opted to stay with the car in my truck even though the ETA was about an hour and a half away, because...and silly me here...I was afraid if they showed up early and no one was there they'd just leave.
So I sat. And I waited. And I waited.
I received an automated call from my insurance roadside assistance saying that my service provider would be there in about 25 minutes.
25 minutes go by...30 minutes go by 5:33 comes and goes and I get another call from my insurance roadside assistance at 5:46 saying my service provider should have been there by now if so, press 1, if not, press 2.
I pressed 2 and was directed to an agent. She asks to put me on hold to contact Charity Towing. She comes back several minutes later. Apologizing and apologizing and apologizing. Finally she tells me that this two bit tow company CANCELED my service call because they were having trouble with their tow truck!!!!! And that she couldn't believe she was just finding this out NOW when SHE contacted THEM!
My mouth gaped open. I held my breath. I paused for several seconds and finally told the girl, "I could cry. I've been waiting for 2 hours. I'm literally 2 minutes from my house and the grocery store I need to go to is literally across the street. I'm looking right at it." I didn't tell her I was hungry. Beyond hungry -- I had reached hangry, but thankfully was able to keep it together. It's not her fault so I wouldn't unleash my wrath on her.
Long story short this company doesn't think it's important to contact the people that are WAITING FOR THEM! Thankfully the agent was AMAZING! She was so apologetic, but it wasn't her screw up to apologize for -- she got a NEW company out within 10 minutes.
If you need a tow call S and D Towing (480-255-3641). They came out immediately and (if I had to pay, which I don't bc I used my roadside assistance) they only charge $40 for the service call plus $2 a mile.
What a joke of a company this is. I'm going to complain to my insurance company and urge them to no longer contract with this terrible company.
