Good airport for its shops and also eateries. Great local restaurants that established themselves inside the airport to have travellers who has a short layover and get a chance to taste local flavors . The challenging part are both Customs. Canadian and US. Security process is painstaking. First the Canadian Customs will inspect every single item you have on your hand carry even thw items already purchased at Duty Free shops, while going through security checks. Then on the US side to get throught Custom, it takes 4 step process. Step one is an automated scanning system for passport and picture (self service) check in and passport verification.Step 2 waiting game until your name appears on the TV monitors. Step 3 go through the TSA to check in Boarding pass and passports. Then step 4 US CBP agents will verify everything and will ask you 20 questions. They even show your check in baggage (impressive) and ask you to verify that it's your luggage. Then go through security checks prior going to the boarding gates. It can take 1.5 - 2 hours just to get through. I'll skip this airport coming to US next time and just take a direct flight.
