| - Dr. Eckkman and the entire staff is simply wonderful and I would love to share my experience with this dentist for anyone who is terrified of going to the dentist like I was!!
I just recently turned 22 and I was about to get kicked off my parents dental insurance, so after FOUR years of putting off going to the dentist, I was quite nervous and it doesn't help I already have problems with anxiety! I couldn't even eat the day before I was so petrified!
My first visit, which I thought would just be a cleaning and X-rays, they took X-rays and I met my super happy dental hygienist. They took real photos of my teeth and pretty much created a profile for me. Then Dr. Eckkman came in and he examined my teeth and much to my dismay I was informed I would need a deep gum cleaning and I had 14 cavities. Just to be clear, I do brush my teeth everyday! ;)
Needless to say I was very upset. They explained everything very well though. Since my insurance was also expiring in a month, I had 4 appointments that normally would have been broken up into 8 appts. I think, but did this to accommodate my needs due to my insurance. Once again, the day before my gum cleaning I was terrified. Once I got in the chair though, my dental hygienist calmed my fears quickly and her bubbly personality and fun chatter helped me to remain calm and told me when I should close my eyes. I didn't even feel the needle from the novocaine much less the deep gum cleaning! She answered all my stupid questions about fluoride and milk and I walked out quite a happy camper every single time the next three times I came and I was barely nervous at all! YAY! Dr. Eckkman and his dental assistant also work super well together and tell hilarious stories so you don't have to answer questions, but you are still entertained. They also make sure you don't feel anything and don't mind giving you the extra novocaine if you are feeling any little pain at all! All the little things like this matter to people who are scared of dentists like me.
So now, I have all my fillings, amazing gums (I can seriously feel the difference), prescription toothpaste and hopefully getting an electric toothbrush soon.
Everyone in the office was simply amazing, receptionists, hygienists, X-ray dude, assistants and Dr. Eckkman. One of the front desk woman even made my mom a flavored coffee on a rainy day while my mom was waiting in the lobby. I will be going back every 6 months for my cleanings even without my insurance. They were the best dental experience I have ever had even with having to get 14 fillings and deep gum cleanings! HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
