Salon appears to be upscale due to decor and location. Also, a family member had been a client w/o complaints. I chose to purchase a gift certificate for my teen daughter for Christmas which she excitedly used last evening. Her request was to minimize summer highlights and reach an all over color to match the bulk of her hair which is a chestnut color. This was discussed with the stylist at the desk area prior to the session. Upon returning to the salon at completion, I found my daughter with a jet black hair shade ( gothic). I was appalled but tried to keep my cool. I knew from her face she was not pleased. Returning home to examine in a more familiar light confirmed that something had gone horribly wrong. I telephoned the salon for suggestions and was told to try washing it in dish soap. Black. Contacted salon and spoke to stylist "john" and was told that my daughter liked the color and it was me that was causing the problem. He did not have to ride home with her in tears begging not to go to school the next day. Before writing this review it surprised me that a number of customers mentioned the staff as kind and gentle apologetic. Basically he was telling me that the owner was not willing to correct anything without extra charge. I was shocked and asked to speak to him personally. He basically washed his hands of it and stated he would mail me a check for a refund leaving me in a lurch as to how to correct my daughters hair. I told him that in all the years of salon experiences I have never seen such a lackluster response in customer service. On top of that the owner had the nerve when I requested the large tip be included in the refund, to threaten my business by stating he was going to bad mouth me to colleagues . Totally bizarre . Well it has been a learning lesson for my young daughter that the outer sparkle does not always guarantee a beautiful shine. If this is the way they operate with customer service, let the buyer beware. Never again!
