  • The management at Longevity Sports Center is mean-spirited and doesn't work to create a family-friendly environment that understands early childhood development. Instead, they just want to fit your child into a mold and if he or she doesn't fit then they simply declare, and I quote, "This isn't a daycare. We don't teach kids with special needs." (And that was said about a Summer camp program, something I'm pretty sure that the US government classifies as a daycare under the ADA.) Whether or not your kid has special needs is irrelevant. The issue is that unless your child is already 100% psyched about soccer 100% of the time and he is also 100% obedient and compliant then the Longevity staff can't handle it. The staff is trained in soccer, not childhood development or education. They will literally talk to 3 year olds the same way they talk to 15 year olds. They don't get it. They don't even seem to understand that a declaration such as "we don't serve special needs kids" is not only immoral but illegal. The ADA requires reasonable accommodation. But it's clear they won't even make reasonable accommodation for average kids. For the record, my child is NOT "special needs" unless you call gifted and athletic "special needs." He just did not like the teachers at the daycamp because they were not warm and friendly and so he didn't want to participate. He was NOT being disruptive or causing harm to anyone. I have given them multiple opportunities by taking my child to various classes with different instructors and I have tried the camp as well. Some of the teachers are good. But the overall atmosphere is not good at all. The management does not care about people, period, that is clear. Not only that, I attended a class as an adult and another member of the class was hurt during the class. There was no protocol for how to deal wit injuries and we had to ask several times to just get her ice for her huge bruise. So unprofessional. --- In regards to the comment below by the business owner... They did not call us and ask us to pick up our son. In fact, the reason I was angry was because Longevity called me four times but specifically did NOT ask us to pick him up. These calls were interrupting my work. The were not being direct with me about anything - they were just calling to whine. I asked point blank "Do you want me to pick him up?" and she said "you don't have to but I don't want him to have to sit here all day". I asked if he was hurt and was told no. I asked if he hurt someone else and I was told no. I asked if he was being disruptive and they said "he was not participating." I told her that's fine to let him sit on the sidelines. It wasn't an emergency so there wasn't a need for me to get him. I had work to do - that's why he's in Summer daycamp. After the third call I asked my husband to talk to them. (They never called him - he called them.) When they called me the fourth time they still didn't ask me to pick him up, they just complained about him some more and that's when I took the initiative and said I would get him.
