I stopped by here a couple of Sundays ago with my wife for our morning coffee. We had never been to Black Forge coffee before and had never even heard of it. However, it was on our Pittsburgh coffee passport and so we headed over to give it a try. It's located on Arlington Ave and the inside is quite interesting and cozy. It is somewhat dark inside and on the walls are art made by local artists. Heavy metal music is playing (albeit softly) and there is a stage where they have bands play. They also have a giant schedule of events on the wall, a tv with a video game (I didn't see which one) and seating for maybe 30 or so. For coffee on this morning I went with a cappuccino and decided to split a bacon and cheddar scone with my wife. All of the baked goods here are locally made close by which is nice to see. The scone ended up being quite good as there was ample cheddar flavor and who doesn't like bacon? After eating the scone I started in on my latte. It was a solid latte as the espresso was smooth and the milk was steamed nicely.
The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. This is definitely one of the more interesting coffee shops in Pittsburgh but the coffee and pastry were pretty good!
