America, I think we are to blame for this funky spot only getting three stars. We're weak, America. Weak and fearful of properly spiced food. But we're also fat, so the restaurateurs of the world have settled for feeding us bland crap.
You can't really just throw some extra pepper sauce or chili powder into a dish after it's cooked and expect good results. Pretty sure that's what happened here when I told them I wanted my food spiced "authentically".
So, sure, it was hot. But it lacked the depth of flavor that develops from really cooking with spice so the end result was a strange combo of hot but bland.
Admittedly, given the choice between bland Thai and no Thai, I'll still take Thai, and everything was fresh and nicely prepared otherwise. So if you are not like me and don't enjoy setting fires on your tongue, you'll probably love the place.
