I am writing this review for the sake of my neighbor who is Spanish speaking and very poorly treated;
She went to her f/up appointment for her uncontrolled diabetes with her provider Rachel Erdmann. Walking into the door with her husband was chaos. The office staff is very rude.
Moving on, she gets her vitals taken and she was asking them the usual questions and when her husband asked the MA if she can either slow down or get a translator to help them out and although they're Spanish speaking MA's (we, myself included, have heard them talk to each other) she told her that they are prohibited to do so and to get her own translator. Her husband (who speaks a little more English and understands more than she does) stated "how? that's illegal!" She said nothing, grabbed her laptop and walked out. Really? I am too a bilingual MA and I am used by every and all providers and staff in my office when needed to better serve the patient.
Anyway, she gets put into a room where she waits about 40 minutes past her appointment time when her husband walks out and asks if she is going to be seen and finally a really nice lady in Spanish notified them that she will be seen and to take a seat (I wish we knew her name! She is lovely! The only decent person in office thus far.) The provider walks in talking on and on in English meanwhile my neighbor had her English speaking daughter on the phone who lives in New Jersey listening in to the conversation because her daughter was frustrated that her mother called her complaining about her care and how they treat her. When Rachel was talking, my neighbor interrupted her and stated that her daughter wanted to speak to her, the provider grabs the phone and states "why am I talking to you? I am not suppose to talk to you." that is when her daughter replied, very strongly, with "You and your staff are being rude to my mother and I am her representative so yes, you will talk to me. What is going on?" That is when the provider simmered down and spoke to her daughter.
I wanted to write this entire dialog just to notify others of all the chaos but I for sure will be calling and complaining to the insurance and also to every place possible because that is IMPOSSIBLE. My neighbor and her husband moved from the East coast seeking a better and more relaxed lifestyle. They (husband and wife) walked out crying because she is genuinely worried about her diabetes and also because the treatment was horrible for non-English speaking people just seeking proper medical care.
