| - Even after the last experience, I ended up coming here again. Only because of scheduling. The location I preferred had a 3 week wait for an early morning appointment. I was fasting, and that was important to me.
I really like the online scheduling. I don't like calling anywhere, so this was perfect. I chose my time and received an email confirmation. There is no 'reminder' email, but I am a big girl and wrote my appointment on my calendar.
I opted for 7:45am on a Friday, as this was the first available. Since they open at 7, I was ready for a packed house when I opened the door. The waiting room was empty! There was one lady in the other room, finishing up with her blood work. I heard her laugh nervously and say that she doesn't like needles. Once she was done, the tech came to the counter and asked for my paperwork, ID and insurance card. I already registered online, so this went quickly. She was not very friendly. Never smiled, never said good morning. I don't like that these techs have to deal with the counter and the blood draw. It seems to make them angry. And I really don't enjoy having an angry person wielding a sharp needle. But I guess this is the norm at most of these places nowadays. Sad.
I sat down, she verified my identity, and I showed her with which vein I have the best luck. After the alcohol wipe, she never warned me, just stabbed my vein. Whatever. I just wanted to get it over with anyway. It hurt, which I expected, but she was good at changing out the vials with almost no movement of the syringe. For that I was grateful, since she chose not to use the 'butterfly' syringe. I don't know the tech's name. She appeared on the younger side, shoulder-length brown hair. No smile. Efficient.
