  • Studio Bliss is the worst yoga experience I have ever had and I have been to a number of studios in Los Angeles, Toronto, and Istanbul. Bottom line Montreal is full of yoga studios and you can easily find a much better place that actually values it clients. I signed up two weeks ago for the first month promotion, one month for $39. I enjoyed the first classes I went to, but suspiciously at the end of each class the instructors all announced that it was his or her last class at Studio Bliss. My frustration began last Wednesday. I came for a Yin yoga class scheduled for 8:00pm only to learn that it was not happening because the schedule had changed for the summer. There was no notice of this on their website and the new schedules that had been posted around the studio said the new schedule didn't go into effective until the next week, July 14. Things got even worse when I showed up Thursday evening for a Yang/Yin class. The class was scheduled for 8:00pm , but the instructor didn't arrive until 8:20. No one from the front desk came to explain what was happening or to tell us that the teacher was going to be late. When the instructor, Mackenzie, did arrive he was totally flustered and not very nice. I expected the class was going to be a bit difficult for me, but I would be able to comfortably make the modifications I needed to. As I was leaving the class, Mackenzie told me that the class was beyond my level and that I shouldn't come to it again, which made me feel terrible. Most yoga instructors stress the most important thing is that you show up and try your hardest. His attitude was completely inappropriate. The last straw for me came this morning when I showed up for a Hatha class at 10:15. Even though the schedule is changing and unclear, the Sunday 10:15 Hatha yoga class was posted on both the old schedule and the new schedule, so I thought that it surely must be happening. When I went to check-in for the class at the front desk, the young woman working told me the class was cancelled because a special workshop was taking place. When I expressed frustration there had been no notification of the cancellation, she was not at all apologetic and chided me for not checking the studio's website before coming. When I got home I checked their website, not only was there no information about the cancellation or the workshop, the new summer/ fall hadn't even been posted. It would be nice if they could email their students about changes to the schedule. I am totally disappointed with Studio Bliss and even though I have two weeks left of my first month, I am not going back. Instead I'll go to another, smaller neighborhood studio that actually cares about it clients and isn't just out to make money.
