  • Stopped by at Old City Libations for Happy Hour after having been at the Yelp Event and Old City is awesome. Old City is not a place with a huge variety, instead they are a place that does a limited number of items extremely well. Located on Detroit Ave in the Gordon Square area, Old City is a cool space that feels open and relaxed, not a lot of decor, but what is there feels right. There are a couple of TVs, some couches and plenty of tables. A nice bar runs along one side of the room and an old school cooler has bottles of the yummy soda. Since this was a quick visit I had the Cider Soda and the happy hour Pretzel Bites (which you can get free by checking in on the Yelp App.) The bites were a nice sized order of the bites, with a nice contrast of crispy and buttery with just enough salt to make you wish all pretzels were like this. The Cider Soda was outstanding, with a crisp apple taste and light carbonation, I could drink this all day every day. On my past visit I got to try some of the other items, I would strongly recommend trying the root beer, which has a complex flavor profile that is still familiar. The pretzels and pierogis were also really good, and Old City lets you customize. Old City is a great place to get a drink, some of the best sodas you will ever taste and some great bar bites. Stop by and give them a try.
