| - I really want to love this gym. It has all the basics at an extremely affordable price. However, the excessive heat, decibels, and poorly placed machines have made my workouts unbearable.
I joined last March or April and thought the excessive heat was due to poor air conditioning, which I accepted because of the price tag. However, now that it's winter, the heat is purposely cranked up for some reason-- it's hotter now than it was in the summer! Having lived in Florida until last year, I have never been to such a hot gym! Based on my experience in Florida alone, heat does not cause more calorie burn nor make one work harder; it causes exhaustion and crappy workouts! This gym cranks up the heat so the uninformed think they are working "hard" because they are sweating and exhausted. It's unethical and unsafe!
What's less concerning is I can rarely hear music out of my own headphones. I even bought a new MP3 player (and borrowed 2 others) with 3 different pairs of headphones to workout here, but nothing will cover the noise--and it's never really crowded. If it's not the excessively loud music, the trainers and members always seem to scream instead of talk to each other. I can understand when people have hearing difficulties, but the management could at least turn the crappy music down so people can listen to their own music and communicate at a normal noise level.
Finally, all cardio machines are too close together and too close to the main windows! I have been hit on by too many men by the cardio machines alone! They're too close together for a woman to feel safe. I just want to get a good workout in, but its impossible here. I was even followed to my car after a non-gym member saw me as I was running because the treadmills are directly in front of the gym's windows! There should never, NEVER be open store windows at a gym! Even Giant Eagle doesn't do this! Luckily the guy left me alone, but I'm still scared.
Yes, I hate this place and have canceled my membership.
