| - I lived here for a year in a Pillar "townhouse" (actually a multi-story apartment, since there was no backyard or front porch). My townhouse was very roomy, clean, well-lit, and bug-free. The neighborhood was also pretty, well manicured, and typically quiet outdoors during the day and night.
However, inside the units, the WALLS are so THIN you can hear EVERYTHING that goes on in the adjacent units. I had neighbors in an adjacent townhouse who would slam doors, cabinets, drawers, windows, and their bed was very inconsiderately placed so it touched the wall (or rather, slammed into it) whenever they sat down on it, or participated in any other activity for that matter. And although that was an example of extreme ignorance on their part, even if you have quiet neighbors, the walls are so thin that neighbors can still be heard sneezing, coughing, peeing (yep), and other things. I am not exaggerating. In the other adjacent townhouse to mine, the neighbors were very courteous and quiet most of the time, yet I could still hear them talking, sneezing, laughing, and opening cabinets/drawers. Their tv, which I believe they were playing at a modest volume, came through the bedroom wall like it was in the room with me. Thankfully, they did not run up and down the stairs or slam doors like the neighbors on the other side. But with our bathrooms located back-to-back, I always had to time it so I wasn't in there the same time as them... it was gross what could be heard through the walls. For the price I paid (~$1200), the place should have been constructed better and insulated better. My electric bill (summer avg ~$200) was evidence of the lack of insulation between units and in the attic.
All in all, if you don't mind A LOT of noise around you at all times when you are in your home, this place is a good, safe place to be. However, if you want your home to be a quiet, calming place to come home to... look elsewhere!
