| - The Clarendon is easily my favorite boutique hotel in the Phoenix area. It's retro-chic with modern amenities and fantastic service all the way through. We were fortunate to have been able to stay in a pool-view suite recently and while it was still over 100 degrees outside, our stay was incredibly comfortable and very enjoyable. Aside from having a wonderfully attentive and friendly staff and a funky vibe, there is a high level of charm and detail that the Clarendon accomplishes.
From their beautiful pool area (which we utilized each night of our stay), to the FREE, UNLIMITED munchies (after 9p.m) that included sodas, chips, and candy bars; to the fact that bottled water was FREE (as many as you need), we were very impressed. Add the fact that the rooms are spacious and feature nice big TVs and (in the suites at least) a large sitting area, desk, bar, and fridge, as well as ample free parking, and you've got a winner for what they call an "Urban Retreat."
Centrally located to many downtown Phoenix points of interest including great dining options near uptown and the bustling art scene downtown, the Clarendon is not only a hotel, but a local hub; featuring live music and a killer happy hour at their hotel restaurant Gallo Blanco. Don't forget to head up to their awesome rooftop, too. The views are great and it's a nice area to take a seat and enjoy the desert sunset. I would recommend this hotel to younger folks, business travelers, and even families.
