I went to The Bar at Times Square twice, and had very different experiences each time. The first time I went was on a Sunday night around 11:30. We had an awesome time! We walked right in after showing ID and grabbed a table for our group. It was a really fun crowd and the dueling pianists were amazing.
When I went again last month, it was a Saturday night. We had to pay $10 and then were corralled into a standing room area between the bars. There was nowhere to sit, we couldn't see the pianists except on the TVs above the bar, and the drinks were TINY. The bartenders made us these disgusting Jolly Ranchers that we had to pay for after we ordered well drinks. Then he refused to serve us after he hit on us and we politely declined. Somehow we got stuck babysitting these random sloppy drunks because the bouncers wouldn't escort them out of the bar. It was really bad - these guys could barely stand or speak a complete sentence and kept hanging on to us.
Although my Saturday night experience left a bad taste in my mouth, I would go back. I would just not go on a weekend night.
