Never been to the more famous palace station location but just on a whim, came here on a week night around 8. Surprisingly there was only one other table at that time. We all ordered a different entree, and eeee served hot garlic bread. The food was pretty good. The pan roast was especially delicious, but found that the rice that came with it wasn't quite enough, so it kind of became a bisque. I ordered the gumbo, and thought that it was decent, but definitely had better elsewhere in town. We all got the spicy level 6 or 7, but there wasn't even a hint of spiciness. What was frustrating was the service. There were 2 waitresses which shouldn't be a problem. But somehow it was. We had to flag them down constantly for water etc, and in fact they were so busy chattering with other people there that I saw our dishes, after being finished and were put under the heat lamp waiting to be brought out, continued to sit there for a good 5 minutes.
This place is very close but will we be back? Questionable. I think I wanna try the palace station next time.
